Robert Larkin Young b. 04-16-1835 S.C. d. 11-01-1909 married to Harriet Thomas Bostick 07-28-1856 in Gwinnett County Ga, Daughter of R. Bostick & Ann Unknown.
He was a veteran of the civil war, having lived in Pinkneyville Ga. which according to family documents was about 2 miles north of Norcross Ga. on Old Peachtree Rd. He traveled from his residense there all the way to Dalton Ga. and enlisted with Co A 4th Regiment Ga Calvary also known as Avery's Mountain Dragoon's. He was captured at the battle of Kingston Tennesee near Knoxville on December 3, 1863 by the troops under the command of Brigadier-General James G. Spears. He was taken to Camp Chase Ohio and then to Rock Island Ill. pow camp for the remainder of the war.
The family records state it took 2 months for him to walk home after release.
